colored pencil drawingI thrive on being creative, on figuring things out, on playing the 'what if' game. Art is in our family genes. Father: photography, Mother: fiber arts & water colors, Brother: master mechanic, Sister: bead work.

I started doing ceramics and oil painting in jr high and switched to acrylics in high school (less dry time and smell). My problem was it took SO LONG to get an idea expressed. I switched to photography in late high school. This took me through college and forty plus years of working. The heavy biology and science training helped me to SEE what I was recording. My favourite subjects are still invertebrates, non-seed plants, fungi and lichens.

Work burned me out to photography. Recently I made the switch back to paint. Finally, at retirement, I began using Colored Pencils. They allowed me to 'sing' again and express ideas that had remained dormant for some time. The image to the left is one example of colored pencil work. Granted, this was not on day one and as with any skill, it takes time, patience, frustration and a lot of trips to the art store.

There is no "Perfect" media. Each has pluses and minuses. Work with what works for you and will best express your ideas.

see: The Guardians of Br'thn for my writing effort.
